August 2020 Updates
Situations are changing by the minute in our country. And the demands on each of us grow as the COVID 19 pandemic grows. In light of the concerns about how easily the virus spreads, and how vulnerable our whole country is, we have decided, for the current time, to have services online.
We are not having services on Sundays or Thursdays in the church.
Below you will find an image that explains how we are making decisions on returning.
We will announce church wide for two weeks in advance before having in Sanctuary Worship on social media, emails, websites, phone calls, and in service.
Once we return to in person services we will continue to follow the recommendations for social distancing, cloth masks, and using the main front entrance. We will provide parking assistance and elevator use as needed.
St. Pete First Cloth Masks will be available.
It grieves us to not gather together, and we will resume our gathering in person as soon as it seems prudent. We are praying for the health of each one of you. Pray for us too, please.
We hope to “see” you on Facebook Live. If you have not gone there before, you don’t need an account, just search for First United Methodist Church of St. Petersburg, and it will come up.
Please join the Watch Party, you can actually converse with people on there!
Blessings to all.

As many of you have probably heard, the new testing site is up and running at the Arts Mahaffey Theater in St. Pete. We are happy to report this site to be open later hours, with weekend hours also available to give more flexibility for those needing testing. Please see the attached flyer with hours open to volunteers and instructions for safely visiting the testing site.
Volunteer at home!
There was an error discovered in the 2020 Spanish Hurricane Guide and we are asking for volunteers to assist with placing stickers over the misprint. The guides and stickers can be picked up and dropped off at either one of our distribution locations listed below. Please email Mary Burrell or Jess McCracken prior to arriving to have the guides packaged and ready to go!

Pinellas County Emergency Management has partnered with Adopt-a-Block to build Hurricane / Hygiene kits to help our vulnerable populations better prepare for hurricane season. Our goal this year is provide 1500 kits to our vulnerable populations throughout the community. Please see the attached donation supply list with the items we are striving to collect. We have already received several generous donations from a few of our community partners, but there is still more work to be done! If you are interested in donating or would like to volunteer for kit assembly or to work the event, please email Jess McCracken directly! See attached flyers for the event details and volunteer information.
