A NOTE FROM PASTOR MARGE
There’s a reason why Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” (Matthew 19:14). Children are such a huge part of the body of Christ, and we have so much to learn from them. They teach us about purity, innocence, creativity, humor, and resilience, just to name a few things. I know in my own life, children have played a pivotal role in my faith journey. The Bible says that children are a gift from God so why is it that they are so often overlooked, undervalued, neglected, and even abused?
Each of us has a vital role, whether we are parents or not, in raising children and youth in the faith. We are to be warriors for them, we are to fight for their hearts, and we are to lead them to Jesus Christ, who has promised them not just an average, mediocre life but an abundant one. More than anything else, we need to pray for them. We need to pray that they would hold onto the truth that God loves them through Jesus Christ. We need to ask God to protect them from fear, and to give them strength and courage to face the future. Finally, we need to ask the Holy Spirit to give them a peace that surpasses all understanding and the assurance of knowing that God is with them always.
Thanks be to God for our children. They are such a gift!
