The Altar Guild's mission is to make the sanctuary and altar reflect spirituality and beauty, bringing inspiration to our church family as we worship. Members work in teams to perform monthly altar duties, and work together to prepare the sanctuary for Christmas, Easter, and other special seasons.

Our Chancel Choir sings for 11 am Sunday worship (with a month off in the summer) and rehearses on Wednesday nights September-May. Attend a choir rehearsal to sign up—all that is required is a heart for music and worship! You don’t need to read music or have a solo voice. We would love to add your voice, heart, and spirit to our group!

Computer Center Ministry
Looking for a meaningful way to serve in our community? We’d love for you to be part of our Computer Center Ministry! Join us Monday through Thursday from 9:30–11:30 a.m. at the Job Center at the Salvation Army on 4th Street South, where we come alongside those in need—helping with things like applying for food assistance, creating resumes, and searching for jobs online. It’s a simple way to make a real difference in someone’s life. Whether you can volunteer one day a week or several, your time and presence matter. No experience is needed—full training is provided, and we’ll support you every step of the way. Come be part of something that changes lives—both theirs and yours.

Disaster Response Team

When disaster strikes, our church shows up. Our Disaster Response Team, working through the United Methodist Church and UMCOR Disaster Response, helps bring hope and practical help to people affected by storms and other natural disasters in our community and beyond. We are first on the ground during disasters and perform duties like mud clearing, removing sheet rock, bedding, and other home items to prevent the situation from becoming worse. Whether it’s clearing debris, organizing supplies, or supporting recovery efforts, your gifts can make a real difference. If you feel called to serve when people need it most, we invite you to join us. Early Response Team (ERT) training is available and encouraged to prepare for safe and effective service.

Discover First

Discover First hosts quarterly meetings where particiants get a chance to talk with our pastors, find out more about our church, our history, our mission, vision, & goals, get connected to our ministries, and find out more about membership.

Faith Community Nursing

Faith Community Nursing promotes health and healing practices from a Christ centered perspective by encouraging healthy lifestyles and helping people understand the relationship between lifestyle, faith and well-being. Faith Community nurses provide Christian health counseling, education, advocacy and intentional care of the spirit. Everyone with an interest in the health field is welcome to join.
Blood pressure and health information clinics are held the second Sunday of each month from 9 am until 11:15 am in the nurse's area on the first floor.

First Impressions

First Impressions team members volunteer during one or more Sunday services per month and act as ambassadors of our church to help folks feel welcome and safe in our building. Training is provided so volunteers can assist the church during emergencies or other situations that might occur on Sunday mornings.

Fourth Wednesday Outreach

On the fourth Wednesday of each month, St. Pete First partners with Gift'd Ministries' Born to Serve program to provide showers, haircuts, healthcare, clothing, and meals.
Volunteers help with meals and shower ministry. All training is provided, and retirees are welcome.

Greeter Team

During our regularly scheduled worship services and special events, greeters welcome people, share information, and offer service of any kind to ensure the needs and concerns of our members and guests are met.

Handbell Choir

Our Fellowship Ringers handbell choir performs a few times per quarter at the 11 am Traditional Service. We rehearse & perform September–May and would love to have you join us! It is helpful if you read music, but we can work with you to learn!

Hospitality Team

Each week our teams serve others in love. These teams host and serve for Common Grounds (Sunday morning coffee and fellowship hub), Wednesday Night Dinner, and receptions.

Lunch Ministry

Monday and Tuesday Bag Lunches
Volunteers prepare approximately 75 lunches each Monday & Tuesday, including a sandwich, fruit, chips, a sweet treat, and water. Lunch prep begins at 10:30 am, and lunches are served from 11:30 am to noon at Christ United Methodist Church.
Thursday Hot Lunch
Volunteers provide a hot meal each Thursday from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at Christ UMC. Volunteers assist with setup, serving, and cleanup.
You don't need to serve every week to make a difference. No experience is required—just a welcoming heart.

Meals on Wheels

St. Pete First has staffed a Meals on Wheels delivery route for many years. We go out in teams of two; each team delivers one day a month. Time commitment is about 1½ hours (10:30am-12noon, M-F). We often need volunteers who can help on a regular basis or as a substitute when it fits your schedule. Registration and training are required and will be provided. Click here for more information.

Looking for a fun volunteer opportunity? There is a need for office volunteers to answer phones and greet people who come into the Administration Building, as well as other light office duties as needed. The regular hours are 9 to 1 or 1 to 5, one day per week. We are also in need of substitute office volunteers.

School Food Pantry Team

The School Food Pantry Team supports local students and families by providing food at partner schools. Some locations operate weekly while others are biweekly. Volunteers assist with pantry prep on Thursdays by stocking canned and dry goods and packing fresh produce (no heavy lifting required), or help distribute food directly to families once a week or every other week, offering a warm and welcoming presence. Training is provided, scheduling is flexible, and this ministry is perfect for those who enjoy hands-on service and meaningful opportunities to support children and families in our community.

Shower Ministry

St. Pete First offers free showers every Wednesday for those experiencing homelessness using our three-stall shower trailer located in the church parking lot.
From 7:30 to 11:30 am, volunteers welcome guests, schedule showers, distribute hygiene kits, provide clothing, and clean the facilities after each use.
In addition to offering showers every Wednesday, we also offer offer meals, haircuts, and other services on the 4th Wednesday of each month.
Please let us know if you feel called to help with this ministry. All training is provided.

St. Pete First Street Ministry serves our neighbors experiencing homelessness and hardship through meals, showers, clothing, and practical assistance. Whether preparing food, welcoming guests, or helping someone search for a job, volunteers share Christ's love through simple acts of compassion and hospitality.
No experience is required—just a welcoming heart.

Street Team Dinners @St. Vincent de Paul
Time Commitment:

Volunteers from St. Pete First cook & serve meals at St. Vincent de Paul five to six evenings each month. A team of cooks prepares meals in our church kitchen, while serving teams provide dinner to 100 to 150 people each night.
Most volunteers serve about 90 minutes each month, and no prior cooking or food service experience is needed.

Student/Youth Ministry

Our Mission is to transition kids from an elementary knowledge of Christ and his teachings to learning what it means to be a Christian in today’s world and give students grades 6-12 a solid grounding on the Methodist faith.
