Pastor's Note

A NOTE FROM PASTOR BOB

Hey Friends,

Being part of a church that cares so deeply about its community is a gamechanger. We are in the midst of putting the final touches on our summer Vacation Bible School week and all we need is a handful of people just like you who care to make a difference in the life of a child. It's really not that hard. All it takes is a heart for kids and I have to ask, "Who doesn't have that?"

Did you know that 60-75% of the kids who attend our VBS are not part of our church, and 10% have no church affiliation at all? Why is this important? Because it means we are living into our mission to LOVE.ST.PETE and to meet an unmet need in our community. Let me invite you to come onto the field and get into the game and let's bring kids into the loving arms of Jesus!

— Pastor Bob

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

PASTORAL PRAYER / LORD'S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

TAKE ACTION! Help us meet unmet needs and serve others.

Volunteer Help Needed

A little time out of your week can make such a difference! Join us as we strive to be the hands and feet of Jesus as we serve and Love. St. Pete.

Vacation Bible School is one of our largest outreach events of the year and we need lots of volunteers! Get ahead of the game and sign up now to help. VBS Setup Week is June 9-13 (drop in to help anytime between 9 am & 3 pm); VBS Week is June 16-20 (9 am - noon). Want to help with VBS but not available during those weeks? You can still help us out!! We have some prep work BEFORE set-up week. Own a pair of scissors? We’ve got a job for you. We need paper cutouts of trees, animals, and more... No experience required and we’ll provide all materials. Check the VBS table on the first floor, call the office, 894-4661, ext 2125 or email Lora at lulrich@stpetefirst.org for a packet to take home. Everything must be returned by Sunday, June 8th!

Our Street Ministry, a 20-year partnership with St. Vincent de Paul CARES, serves the homeless in our community. Rooted in our mission to “Love St. Pete,” volunteers prepare and serve meals five nights a month. Cook Team members make nutritious meals in the FUMC Fellowship Hall, while Serve Team members feed 100 guests per night. Most people volunteer to either cook or serve one night per month. The time commitment is usually less than 90 minutes. If you'd like to support this impactful ministry, contact Bruce Haselden at behaselden@gmail.com.

Click here to go to our Serve form, then select the ministries you are interested in.
