*CALL TO WORSHIP Rev. Margaret Rountree
Pastor: The Lord is our refuge.
People: We can find peace in God’s abiding love.
Pastor: When troubles assail us, we call upon the Lord.
People: When joys abound, we call upon the Lord.
Pastor: Welcome this day to God’s house, one of many dwellings of the Almighty One.
People: We thank you and praise God for his refuge and sanctuary.
*HYMN OF PRAISE

*PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST
*CONGREGATIONAL SONG
“Blest Be the Tie That Binds” Number 557
Blest be the tie that binds
our hearts in Christian love;
the fellowship of kindred minds
is like to that above.
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Pastor: Christ the Lord invites all to His table who love Him, who earnestly repent of their sin and seek to live in peace with one another. Therefore, let us confess our sin before God and one another.
People: God of compassion and justice, hear our prayer. Christ calls all to repent, and we protest because we are virtuous people. Christ calls us to costly discipleship, and we cling to the status quo, focused on our own security and well-being. Christ calls us to love You and one another, and we find excuses to put off faithfulness until tomorrow. Forgive us, O God of love. By your grace, cleanse and renew us, we pray. Amen.
WORDS OF ASSURANCE
The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will He harbor his anger forever; He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. Thanks be to God! Amen.

Pastor's Note
A NOTE FROM PASTOR BOB Something to think about this week:
Have you ever noticed how God introduced the Ten Commandments? Before He spoke His laws to the people in Exodus 20, He took time to remind them of three vital truths:
The love He had for them
The victories He had won for them
The future he had planned for them.
God spoke about how He intended to bless Israel as His children, and He warned them of the boundaries to keep. Only then did He give them His commandments to obey. Before God demanded His people keep His rules, He reminded them of His relationship and blessings. That gave them all the incentive they needed to follow through on their commitment.
