Pastor's Note

A NOTE FROM PASTOR ELYSE

Hello, Church Family!

Family discipleship is one of the fundamental ways God has planned to build His kingdom, but many of us as parents struggle with how to actually do it. We want our children to be loving, kind, generous, and compassionate. Faith formation should be about imitating the character traits that Jesus embodied for us.

Rather than thinking of discipleship at home as doing Sunday school around the kitchen table, parents can disciple their children as they go—through regular prayer, cultural engagement, and everyday decision-making. Prayer times can be short and simple. As a family, look for examples of Christ-like character, or its opposite, around you. Families can also run decisions through the lens of Christ's character to help determine the best direction to take.

Whether you feel unprepared, unsuccessful, or even hopeless, know that we have hope and joy as we take the next step in raising children—and ourselves—in the faith, together as the church.

See you Sunday!

—Pastor Elyse
