Hurricane Helene Recovery

A NOTE FROM PASTOR BOB

Hey Friends—

This week has been dedicated to assisting the many in our community who are recovering from Hurricane Helene. Your church has been very active in bringing hope to those in need. This past week we prepared, offered and delivered over 500 meals. Teams have been working in homes to remove debris and tear down wet walls, and we have become the distribution center for cleaning kits to assist surrounding neighborhoods and other United Methodist churches in our area. I’m so proud that you continue to answer the call to assist with compassion and to use your hands to serve. We have had well over 100 volunteers working with us, and I know as the coming week progresses, more will join us.

This coming week we will continue to triage needs and put together a plan offering financial assistance to help with recovery. As that plan is solidified I will let you know more details.

Let me just say, as I have visited in homes and driven to the affected communities, this is going to be a long-term recovery. The proverb says, “Steady plodding produces prosperity. Hasty speculation produces poverty.” So, we journey on as long as it takes. One last thing…your staff has been hands-on and serving. If some of the things you have grown accustomed to at our church aren’t finished, I’m thanking you in advance for your grace and understanding.  Together we are keeping hope alive!

Have a blessed day!
