Pastor's Note

A NOTE FROM PASTOR BOB

I am so grateful for the continued growth of our church. This Sunday we will be receiving several persons who are taking the covenantal step of becoming a member of the church. What does it mean to be a member of this church? It means that you believe at this point in your life that God is leading you to put down roots to learn and grow in your faith through teaching, cultivating your heart for serving others, financially supporting God’s work through this church and also saying, “This is the church that I love!” God continues to do amazing things through all of you and what is even more exciting to me is, God leads daily more people here to join our cause to Love. St. Pete. as we live into our vision and become the “Heart of the City!”  I love this church!

— Pastor Bob

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Leader: Christ the Lord invites all to His table who love Him, who earnestly repent of their sin and seek to live in peace with one another. Therefore, let us confess our sin before God and one another.

People: Gracious God, our sins are too heavy to carry, too real to hide, and too deep to undo. Forgive what our lips tremble to name, what our hearts can no longer bear, and what has become for us a consuming fire of judgment. Set us free from a past we cannot change. Open us to a future in which we can be changed. Grant us grace to grow more and more in Your likeness and image. Through Jesus Christ, the Light of the World, we pray. Amen.

WORDS OF ASSURANCE

The steadfast love of God is with us— yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Whether we turn away or doubt, whether we follow timidly or joyfully, we are loved and forgiven in Christ. Amen.

VBS Volunteers Needed:

There are so many things you can help with!! We will have a full house, with 120 children during the week! Phew, that’s a lot of kids… Did you know that more than half of those children are from the community and NOT members of St. Pete First? This is one of our largest outreach events of the year and we need your help.

We have many areas to choose from; you can help by setting up ahead of time, helping lead a preschool or elementary group, helping lead music during our opening and closing each day, preparing snacks or crafts – there’s SO many things to do. If you can help, CLICK HERE to volunteer or email Lora Ulrich and she will find a spot for you!! We are also asking for donations to purchase snacks and donate to our service project (backpacks for St. Pete High’s Green Devil’s Pantry)— you can click here to donate to VBS or write a check and designate VBS.

Children & Youth Sunday (6/23):

Come help us celebrate our children and youth and hear their testimonies about what the church is doing in their lives. On June 23, we will worship together at 10 am, with Sunday School at 11 am.

Street Ministry Volunteer Opportunities:

Street Ministry is seeking 6 volunteers to serve meals to the homeless population in St. Petersburg on the 1st Monday, 1st Tuesday or 2nd Wednesday of every month. Volunteers serve food at the St. Vincent de Paul Homeless Shelter from 6:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. once per month. No prior experience in serving food is needed—only a smile is required! To learn more about volunteering with Street Ministry, visit our Street Ministry page or contact Hal Heitler at 727-448-6291 or at heitlerh@tampabay.rr.com.

Meals on Wheels Volunteers Needed:

St. Pete First members and friends have staffed a Meals on Wheels delivery route for many years. This is an impactful local mission, bringing a meal and a friendly greeting to homebound seniors in St Petersburg. Time commitment is about 1½ hours (10:30am-12noon), one weekday per month. We currently need volunteers who can help on a regular basis or as a substitute. Registration and training are required and will be provided. If you can help or want to know more, click here or contact Sue Allen (sallen0903@gmail.com or 727-418-8155).
