Pastor's Note

A NOTE FROM PASTOR MARGE

This Sunday we kick off our summer sermon series called, “Heroes.” In this series, we are going to study seven Biblical heroes that changed the course of human history as we know it, all because they chose to follow the one, true God. The stories of these heroes are evidence that a mustard seed-size faith in the infinitely powerful, promise-keeping, faithful God changes absolutely everything. The story of Elijah is incredible. Elijah is a person who demonstrated great faith during a time where all the other people of Israel were worshipping false gods. God used Elijah to draw a line in the sand with the people of Israel to ultimately say this: choose for yourself this day whom you are going to serve. Will it be the world, or will it be God because you cannot serve two masters. Nearly three thousand years later, we too are invited to pick up our shields of faith, like our brother, Elijah, and follow Jesus Christ, the one true God and the Savior of the world. What do you think? The choice is entirely up to you.

— Pastor Marge

“Apostles’ Creed” # 881

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

PASTORAL PRAYER / LORD'S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Thank You from Pastor Margaret!

I would like to say a huge “thank you” to my church family for all the support and love you demonstrated towards me during my ordination, a very special milestone on my ministry journey. Thank you to everyone who took the bus or drove in their own cars to watch me get ordained on Saturday, June 8th at Florida Southern College. I would also like to thank everyone who helped to plan and host the luncheon for me in the Fellowship Hall on Sunday, June 9th. Thank you for the countless gifts and cards that I have received and many thanks to Staff Parish for the beautiful stole that I will indeed wear often. I am certainly beyond blessed to be a part of this amazing church family! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
