Lenten Devotional: April 1, 2026

by Rev. Elyse Nielsen

As we celebrate our historic sanctuary's 100th year and Easter this week, I am reminded of how God honors faithfulness. I believe God is blessing the ongoing mission here and has been for years because the church has strived to love the community the way Jesus did. The church is seeing growth and deepening discipleship. It is a blessing to me to serve here and to get to know the congregation and community partners.

Easter is a great time for us to invite a neighbor, coworker, or acquaintance to church. Ask them to join you for Common Grounds coffee in our Fellowship Hall or brunch someplace afterward. You might consider inviting them to your home for Easter lunch with your family. That's always my favorite part of Easter Sunday traditions. We sit as a family, with old and new friends at our table, over ham sliders, deviled eggs (made with hot sauce), and broccoli salad. While we eat, we discuss the sermon and reflect on the service—on what Jesus’ death and resurrection mean. This year could be your chance to share God's love and invite someone you know to get to know our risen Lord. Step out in faith, invite a friend to church, and be blessed by your faithfulness.
