Lenten Devotional: April 4, 2026 - Holy Saturday

by Rev. Bob Martin

Holy Saturday

Here's a truth we often overlook: Easter Saturday sits quietly between heartbreak and victory. The cross has already done its work. The tomb is sealed. Heaven seems silent.

For the disciples, this was a day of confusion and grief. The promises they had trusted now felt distant. Hope, once so alive, seemed buried behind stone and shadow. Nothing appeared to be happening—but everything was already in motion.

This is the day that reminds us what it feels like to wait. We all experience “Saturdays” in life—those in-between seasons where prayers seem unanswered. The day feels quiet, and outcomes are unclear. It’s the space between what was and what will be. The space where faith is tested not by action, but by trust.

But Easter Saturday is not a story of defeat. It is a story of hidden victory. While the world saw stillness, God was working. While hearts were heavy, redemption was unfolding. The silence was not absence—it was preparation.

For many, Easter Saturday is a day that just feels kind of "blah" and without meaning or purpose. If you find yourself in a Saturday season, take heart: God is not finished. What feels like an ending may simply be the pause before resurrection.

Stay faithful in the quiet. Hold onto hope in the dark... It's Saturday, but Sunday is coming!
