Pastor's Note
A NOTE FROM PASTOR BOB
I was speaking with a ministry colleague recently who let me know they were still feeling depleted from a busy Christmas season. She said she just couldn't seem to get things to move forward as she had hoped. Sometimes when we start a New Year it can feel the same way. We have hopes and aspirations but we just aren't sure how to get there. I found when I was a sales professional a mantra to live by: Daily plan your work and work your plan. That made a lot of sense. It made me not just merely think of where I needed to go to make the next sale, it also made me write it down so I could visualize it and make it real. Isn't life the same way? We can dream all we want but sometimes the only way to get there is to write it down.
When the Bible was written it did just that. People wrote down the revelatory word of God and because we can see it daily, we never have to wonder how to get where we need to be or wonder how to succeed. Have you taken time to read God's Word this week?

This Sunday—January 26—is Commitment Sunday!
Don’t forget to bring your Commitment Card to church on Sunday if you haven’t already brought it to the church or submitted it online (www.stpetefirst.org/give#stewardship) There will also be Commitment Cards available at the entrances to the Sanctuary. On Sunday, Pastor Bob will invite everyone to come forward during the last song to place your Commitment Card in a basket, then we will pray over and commission our gifts - please join us at the front even if you’ve already given us your Commitment Card.
Soup-er Bowl of Caring (through Sunday, Feb 23)
Tackle hunger in St. Pete! Help the Youth collect 2000 pounds of canned and dried food for the St. Pete Free Clinic. Drop off canned and dried food in the blue collection bins in the Fellowship Hall, Sanctuary & WhereHouse.
Interested in having Small Groups at St Pete First?
Learn Pillar is working towards starting small groups here at St Pete First. This important ministry will help us develop deeper relationships with other folks at St Pete First, and will provide the opportunity to reach our neighbors. First we want to hear YOUR ideas in a brainstorming session on Wednesday, January 29 (5:30-6:15, Room 103). No commitment to lead a group by attending this meeting. We just want input and good ideas. Calling All Students! Scholarships (apply Feb 1-Mar 31):
Are you a church member who is currently attending or bound for college or vocational school? Applications for St. Pete First Scholarships will be accepted beginning February 1st. Completed applications, along with supporting documents, must be delivered to the church office no later than the close of business on Monday, March 31. All continuing students must re-apply. Seder Meal (Sunday, March 2; 6-8 pm; Fellowship Hall)
The WhereHouse Youth Ministry invites you participate in a traditional Seder meal on Sunday, March 2 at 6 pm in the Fellowship Hall, presented by Jews for Jesus. Cost is $5, and a love offering for Jews for Jesus will be taken. EVERYONE is invited to participate (not just youth). Join us as we sit down to experience a symbolic traditional Seder meal. Explore the meaning of the meal as we become closer with Christ in the Passover. This is an experience, not a full meal; please plan to eat dinner before or after. Click here to RSVP.

Calling all Kids! We're planning a Spring Musical
Does your child (age 4-6th grade) have an interest in music, acting, or just plain fun? Join us Sundays at 9:30 on the 4th floor as we rehearse our Spring Musical. We will be having our main rehearsals on Sunday mornings during the 9:30-10:30 am hour, with optional rehearsals during Kids Praise Team rehearsals on Wednesdays at 5 pm in the Chapel. Rehearsals begin this Sunday, Jan 12, with dress rehearsals on Sunday, April 27 & May 4 at 9:30 am, and the performance on Sunday evening, May 4 at 6 pm. Come have fun with us!
