God so loved you, and me!
Recommended reading: Romans 5
Reflecting on Lent reminds me of Easter. Easter, of course, reminds me of God’s extravagant love.
Can you imagine being Jesus? You’re up in heaven (whatever framework you conceptualize that in), and your mission (should you accept it, and you must) is to become a human baby, grow up in primitive surroundings, put together a band of (frequently thickheaded) followers, and die, excruciatingly, on a cross.
I would pass. But Romans 5:6-8 clarifies just how much God loves you, and me. “You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Questions for Reflection:
Have I fully internalized the amazing, extravagant love gift God has given me in Jesus?
How am I sharing this love and love gift with others?
