Lenten Devotional: March 6, 2023

by Cindy Ripley

Deuteronomy 31:8 The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

Many years ago, I took a job at a locally owned family restaurant working the midnight shift as a baker. After working with the owner for several years I became the sole baker, daily making the bread and desserts for the day.

The Wednesday before Thanksgiving I found myself responsible not only for the daily baked goods and desserts but also an additional 30+ pies to-go for the day. All was going well until I felt an overwhelming feeling of anxiety that I may not complete the task at hand before the morning crew came into work. That is when I called out to the Lord saying, “Dear God, please helps me get through this.” It was at that moment I felt the warm feeling of relief and the release of anxiety that I was going through, and all the extra pies and daily desserts were baked in a timely manner.

God got me though what “seemed” to be a difficult time. There are many more important situations in our lives that God can helps us get through, all we need do is ask. God will always be with you and never forsake you.

Philippians 4:13

For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.

Matthew 17:20

Jesus said: “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
