Lenten Devotional: April 1, 2023

by Dina Succow

Romans 8:32

He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all- how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

We could all call this the promise of all promises. So what can God deny us after having given us Jesus? When God gave us His Son, He gave the greatest gift He could possibly give. In light of that, why would God withhold any lesser gifts from us?

I believe He won’t. And when He gives, He does so freely. So if we have a genuine need and bring it before the Lord in prayer, be assured He will meet it.

But what about those needs He has not met yet? Consider these possibilities: Does God view my want as a true need? Might He have delayed His answer til a more appropriate time? When a need goes unmet, may my response be one of trusting God’s wisdom rather than doubting His goodness.

Meditation:

Do we trust God for salvation? Trust Him then for smaller concerns, too. If we can trust Him for salvation, certainly we can trust Him to direct our everyday activities.
